We have a website!! Woohoo!

Welcome to our first blog - it's hard to know where to begin! We made a website that we're very excited about. Hopefully this will make things easier for those who are not into social media, to keep up with what we're doing. If anything doesn't seem to be working for you, please give us feedback so we can improve it!

We have been working really hard to grow this exciting new endeavour so that all clay-lovers in the region will have access to a firing service, ceramics studio to work in, classes, workshops, talks and a thriving community in which we can share ideas, collaborate and learn. There are so many talented ceramic artists and people who just love playing with clay in Castlemaine and surrounds, and a group of us thought it was time to create something we could share. You've read our story (hopefully) and you know where we started and what we're about. This is very much a work in progress and we are learning as we go.

We have just completed our first firing for CC members who have been waiting patiently for the kiln to be ready to go! There are still so many exciting developments to come, and as they progress there will be more firings and the opportunity to take classes and workshops once we have our Mud Room (ceramic workshop) completed.

Meanwhile ClayStation is still happening, and there will be news about the next one very soon. The grant we received from Creative Victoria as part of Regional Centre for Culture 2018 really enabled us to kickstart this community organisation. Our idea was to introduce you to Castlemaine Clay through this series of talks and workshops, while we continue to chip away at the other things we want to develop for our clay loving community.

We think ClayStation has successfully done that and we are very proud of what we've achieved and feel very blessed to have so many talented artists in our midst who are willing to share their experiences. We think ClayStation has been so successful, in fact, that we plan to continue it in the new year and beyond.

Membership will enable us to exist and as a member you will be part of this growing mud-loving community. If you want to be a part of it and be able to do classes, attend workshops at a discounted rate, fire your work from your home studio, rent our Mud Room (once it's built) or be involved as a member for any other reason, please head over to our "Join Us" page and join us! Membership is for a year, but we won't start counting that 12 months until we open the doors to the Mud Room. Any membership money we receive in the meantime will help us get things happening. Please get in contact with us if you'd like to be more involved. There are only a handful of us working on growing Castlemaine Clay in our (limited) spare time, so anyone who is super keen and gets things done will be a welcome addition to the team! Send us a message from the "Contact Us" page.

We acknowledge that the Dja Dja Wurrung People are the Traditional Owners of the land on which Castlemaine Clay stands. We pay our respects to them, their Elders past, present and emerging.
